How do I solve camera issues?

How do I check 1) if Another App is Using the Camera, 2) Browser Camera Permissions, 3) Device Camera Settings, 4) whether Your Camera Physically Blocked or

How do I do this?

1. Check if Another App is Using the Camera

If another application (Zoom, Teams, or another video tool) is already using your camera, it might block access.
Solution: Close any apps that might be using the camera and restart your browser.

2. Check Camera Permissions in Your Browser

Your browser might be blocking camera access. Here’s how to check:

  • Google Chrome & Edge:

    1. Click the lock icon in the address bar.
    2. Ensure Camera is set to "Allow."
    3. Or go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Site Settings > Camera and enable access.
  • Mozilla Firefox:

    1. Click the lock icon in the address bar.
    2. Make sure Camera is set to "Allow."
  • Safari (Mac):

    1. Go to Safari > Settings > Websites > Camera.
    2. Ensure the site is set to "Allow."

3. Check Your Device Camera Settings

Your system might have the camera disabled.

  • Windows:

    1. Open Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
    2. Make sure Camera access is enabled.
  • Mac:

    1. Open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
    2. Ensure the correct app has camera access.

4. Is Your Camera Physically Blocked or Disabled?

Some laptops have a physical camera switch or cover—make sure yours isn’t closed!
Also, check Device Manager (Windows) or System Report (Mac) to confirm the camera is detected.

5. Are you using an Edge browser and still having issues?

If you're using Edge and have your settings correct, but you still have issues, it might be due to cached security policies on your device. In this case, we suggest installing and using Firefox from your company portal.
